Seven Sisters is the first release from Mythologies, the forthcoming second album by Cheatahs. The band’s self-titled debut just slipped into our Top 10 albums of 2014, and as a first taster of its full-length successor Seven Sisters does not disappoint.

Featuring guest vocals by London musicians Liv Willars and Heather Perkins, Seven Sisters is the sound of a band on a mission to expand the sonic boundaries of shoegazing and dream pop. With echoes of the grandeur of Wish-era The Cure, glorious shades of light and dark, and tantalising guitar textures occasionally sounding like a sonic boom in waiting, the overall effect is mesmerising: Cheatahs was good, and yet somehow this is on another level.

Update, September 3rd: The official video for Seven Sisters is now available. Watch the band’s psychedelic stroll here:

Recorded at various locations, including a monolithic high-rise next to MI5’s headquarters that once housed anti-terrorist units in the 1960s, and taking its name from the title of Roland Barthes’ collection of essays on semiotics and myth, Mythologies is out on October 30th, via Wichita Recordings.
