I was thinking of celebrating all things musically European at some point, and what better time than the dizzying aftershock of local council elections that saw literally tens of people turn out to vote for a party that really loves Europe, Europeans, everyone really. Come on in, they say, bienvenue, the water’s fine, plenty of room for everyone if we all budge up a bit, etc.

The Wannadies arrived from Sweden in the mid 90s with You & Me Song, presumably the only single to be released exactly the same number of times as it was used in Coronation street to soundtrack a car being driven into a canal. So I’m led to believe.

Sadly, Weatherdale aside, The Wannadies didn’t make much of a splash (boom-tish!) in the UK, and Bagsy Me, and its lead single Someone Somewhere barely dented their respective Top 40s.
