Size of Your Town is the latest single from Melbourne’s Crepes. Taken from their debut EP Cold Summers, the track and its video pay homage to the regional Victorian town of Ballarat – where an early incarnation of Crepes first formed in high school. The accompanying film clip is also heavily linked with the act’s roots, and was filmed and directed by friend and fellow Ballaratian Reuben Schmidt.

Laconic irony is very much the order of the day, as the track’s opening lyric attests:

You’re worth as much as the size of your town,

and my town is quite small

What follows is a slow-drifting old-timey troubadour’s tale based around a series of descending chord sequences. Sit back, light up, enjoy.
