There’s some serious 80s sound mining going on through In n Out, the new single from Manchester’s Dutch Uncles. In n Out comes with a groove and synth clashes that wouldn’t sound out of place about half way through the first tape of an early Now That’s What I Call Music compilation, while also sounding thoroughly modern and slickly twenty-first century.

For a more matter-of-fact approach, you could go with lead singer Duncan Wallis’ summation of the song as a “grammatically poor approach to breaking down the friend zone”.

In n Out is the first single from Dutch Uncles’ new album O Shudder, which will be released on February 23rd by Memphis Industries.

Dutch Uncles have also announced two headline dates for 2015: the band will play the Ritz in Manchester on 27th March and Koko in London on 10th April.
