Out of nowhere comes the first single from Ramesh, formerly lead singer of the sadly now defunct Voxtrot. Unsurprisingly, and very much in the traditional fashion for a lead singer breaking out on the own, 1111 sounds a little like his work with his former colleagues. So you get guitars pinging about, and an indie pop hook to hang a strong vocal melody on, but you also get a slightly cleaner stadium indie feel than I remember Voxtrot offering. I don’t normally like to make lazy band-to-band comparisons, but this does half make me want to root out some Thirteen Senses for a rare listen…

A first album from Ramesh - The King - will be out in June on Austin Town Hall Records
