Although it surfaced in late 2012, it wasn’t released until January 2013, as the second single from Everything Everything’s second album Arc. We’re not the sort of band who has a top five album, said the band, as the album landed in the charts in that exact position. Well now they are, and they’re the sort of band who get massive billboards and TV spots, but not, seemingly, end of year garlands (or even a Mercury nomination. Pft).

Seems like a collective oversight on the part of music publications everywhere, because while Arc doesn’t match its predecessor Man Alive for invention and scattergun variety, it more than compensates with its solid, bold pop dynamics, and lush production teamed up with Jonathan Higgs’ unafraid falsetto.
