Mew’s sixth studio album, **+, their first since **No More Stories… in 2009 (and only their second since And The Glass Handed Kites a decade ago), is out next month. Following the thumping then shimmying _Satellites, Water Slides is the second taste of what to expect from the new album, and it’s another very encouraging sign.

Water Slides sees Mew at their rich, melodic best: combining several interweaving melodic strands, the chorus is quite beautifully layered, and so rich with sounds and textures, guiding you comfortably from one to the next to the point where you’re never quite sure if you’re at the start of the end of a fragment, or just floating somewhere in the middle.

Water Slides is taken from Mew’s new album +-, out on April 27th on Play It Again Sam.
