Alberteen are back with We Are The Mods, a new single from their forthcoming second album Miss World. The album is tied together thematically with strands of the landscape, culture and history of the South-East coast: from the artwork and writings of J.M.W Turner and T.S. Eliot, to the omnipresence of the looming hulks of the Nuclear power stations at Dungeness, whose vintage equipment provides the album’s artwork. The album’s title, meanwhile, is a nod to Folkestone’s role in hosting the first international beauty contest in 1908.

The smart, sharp We Are The Mods sounds like it ought to be about the 1964 clashes between mods and rockers down in Margate, but really it’s a thrusting, cocky, three and a half minute statement of intent inspired by the Modernists.

Miss World was produced by Mike Bennett (The Fall, Ian Brown) and will be released on May 25th on CD, digital and gatefold vinyl via the band’s own Rhythm & Noir label.
